I really like the idea of yarn-bombing (covering unexpected public objects with knitted/crocheted coverings) because its such an opportunity to take people out of their everyday experiences. The unexpectedness of a soft knitted surface on an otherwise cold and anonymous public object is so unexpected, the viewer can’t help but see that object in a totally new way. And what better opportunity to disrupt the most boring of routines than by yarn bombing public transit. These artists chose a train on Philly’s Blue Line for their “attack,” with lovely results.
