I’m excited to announce that I’ll be writing a monthly contribution for the Cosa Verde blog focusing on how to “Green Your Biz.” The column will explore all aspects of running a small, crafty business and tips and tricks for making it more sustainable. If you’re not familiar with Cosa Verde, their motto is “think big, shop small” and is a forum for artists and makers who create environmentally-friendly work, including repurposing and recycling, as well as using materials that are sustainable, conflict-, cruelty- and sweatshop-free.
My first post focuses on thinking about “greening” your shipping and packing materials. It might not sound like the most glamorous of topics, sure, but when so much of a businesses revolves around sending things through the mail, how our work is shipped is an important consideration.
Also, if you’re an artist or crafter with awesome tips or tricks for making a business more sustainable, or the ways that you yourself try to keep your business green, I would love to hear them and maybe feature you in an upcoming post!
