We just got back from a quick roadtrip to St. Louis for the wedding of some friends this week. It was a short visit, but nice to get away to see some cornfields and highway, and spend time with lovely people. The highlight of the festivities, for me, were the Chinese lanterns that we lit at dusk after the reception. The couple recently returned from the Peace Corps in China and brought back the paper lanterns that are lit and float into the air all by themselves. They were truly magical, and such a wonderful way to end the special day.

And, of course, no trip to to St. Louis would be complete without a visit to the City Museum. It’d been years since I first visited, and still just as fun as I remembered. Where else can you ride giant slides, watch child circus performers, see gorgeous architectural salvage pieces, take a photobooth photo and play in a giant ball pit?

Here’s to you, St. Louis.
