Natsumi Hayashi is a Toykyo photographer who takes posts daily photos of herself “levitating” on her blog Yowayowa Camera Woman Diary. In Japanese, Yowayowa means means “weak,” and Natsumi writes that as a yowayowa, it’s tough to carry around heavy SLRs all day. Heavy or not, the photos she takes using those cameras and a self-timer are effortless, otherworldly and gorgeous. Whether in the middle of a deserted field or a crowded street, she appears completely solitary and apart from everything around her. Quite a change from the usual jumping photos of people shouting and laughing that make the rounds around the internet, Hayashi’s self-portraits are lyrical and often melancholy, but always completely stunning.
