I’m always excited to see people talking about good stuff going on in Chicago, and came across this blog post with great photos from Color Jam, artist Jessica Stockholder‘s installation that was up in the Loop last summer. Color Jam was a sort of “3-d painting” done with huge vinyl decals on buildings, sidewalks and crosswalks. I’ve been a fan of Jessica Stockholder since seeing one of her installations a few years ago at the MCA— I love her use of color and the element of surprise to really bring you into a piece. Color Jam was Chicago’s largest public art installation to date and seemed to get a pretty good response (from what I heard/saw anyway) so I’m hopeful that we’ll get more innovative projects like this.
