As a newbie to digital illustration, my latest obsession is designers who can harness the use of texture in their work. Sure, a perfect curve is easy when you’re working with vectors, but it’s the addition of textures that really add warmth and depth. An artist who has really mastered these kinds of digital textures is Andrew Bannecker. I featured his posters for the musical Matilda a few years back and was blown away when I came upon his work again recently. Not only are the creations beautifully reminiscent of the most magical storybooks, his rich textures add such charm and interest to everything he designs.
